Mon, 20 Jan 2007 - Boeing announces new Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP) standard for aerospace quality maintenance, rather than the Boeing certification previously accepted.

CHICAGO - Effective 28 June, 2008 all Boeing suppliers that have been previously certified to the Boeing Quality Management System (BQMS) will be required to maintain AS/EN/JISQ 9100 standard certified by an Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP).

Their goal is to establish a consistent quality management system with the Americas and the rest of the international market. Currently, the AS9003 standard is unique to the Americas. When Boeing requires a quality management system for procurements, AS9100 will be the accepted certification.

It is recommended that suppliers follow these steps for achieving certification: contact a manufacturing funding source for the project, select vendor for assistance in preparing for registration audit and the selection of a aerospace certification body (Registrar).
